Unlike most of my readers (probably), I don’t read fiction. I just can’t. It’s a hard-wiring problem.
But I immensely enjoy fiction films.
Two of my favorite movies of all time are Nicholas Sparks’ films: The Notebook and Message in a Bottle.
Love them both. So much so that I own them and have seen them repeatedly.
Though I hated (with a passion) the end to Message in a Bottle.
Okay, so a week or so ago, I along with some others went to see the new Sparks’ film. (Can’t recall the name off hand, but it had Diane Lane and Richard Gere in it.)
I was tracking with the movie right up until the end.
But when the end came, my reaction was ….
Pleeeeeasssee! Come on! You gotta be kidding me. No way.
Sigh ….
To the film’s credit: The acting was great, especially on Lane’s part. She was masterfully believable.
And I wasn’t bored.
But I did feel the story wasn’t nearly as robust or interesting as the other two films.
Here’s the net:
Will I go see another Nicholas Sparks’ film in the future? Absolutely.
Will I watch the recent one again? Not a chance.
Your mileage may vary of course.
